As part of the “Active Response” project, supported by #GreenAl, the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida), and Co-PLAN Institute for Habitat Development, in collaboration with VIS Albania and COSV – Cooperazione per lo Sviluppo, and implemented in Shkodër by the Shpresa Project, a meeting was held at the Environmental Directorate of the Municipality of Shkodër.

The meeting took place in the presence of representatives of this institution: Ms. Aida Shllaku, Dr., Mr. Luigj Mila, director of the Shpresa Project, as well as Ms. Nora Banda, local facilitator of the project.

The aim of the meeting was to identify and analyze environmental issues that directly affect the public and social well-being of the community, with a particular focus on People with Disabilities.

This meeting also serves as an important step toward strengthening dialogue between public institutions, civil society organizations, and citizens, emphasizing the importance of inclusive policies that protect the environment and improve quality of life for everyone.

Key discussion points included:

● Identifying environmental problems that impact the health and social well-being of citizens;

● Ways to actively involve people with disabilities in environmental initiatives;

● Promoting the role of art and creativity (e.g., pyrography work) as tools for awareness and social inclusion;

● Steps toward creating a cooperation network between local institutions, schools, organizations, and community groups for environmental protection.

Planned future collaborations:

● Organizing educational and awareness activities on environmental issues within the community;

● Information campaigns and trainings to engage youth and people with disabilities in environmental actions;

● Sustainable cooperation with the Municipality of Shkodër, educational institutions, and local partners for the development of joint projects in the field of environmental protection and social development.

Final Message:

This initiative aims to build bridges of cooperation, strengthen civic awareness, and contribute to shaping a green, inclusive, and sustainable future for the city of Shkodër.
